Padgett Shines in Indoor Season OpenerPublished by
Junior thrower Kayla Padgett broke her own school record in the women’s weight throw and took top honors with a personal-best performance in the women’s shot put to cap a successful start to East Carolina’s indoor track and field season at the Christopher Newport Invitational Saturday afternoon. Padgett recorded a 20.75-meter (68-01.00) heave to win the weight throw competition and top her previous school record of 20.05 meters (65-09.75) which was set last season. The Pirates swept the top four spots in the event as Dawn Early took second with a 17.04-meter (55-11.00) mark, Kaylee Redon claimed third at 16.85 meters (55-03.50) and Dana Keister placed fourth at 16.73 meters (54-10.75).
