Introducing Our New Contributing Editors

Since the end of February I have been happy to have two new contributing editors working at CollegeHammer.com. Due to my other commitments for the hammer throw, work, and family, it has been difficult to keep CollegeHammer.com up to date as much as it deserves to be. But the site will continue to provide great content thanks to the help of Dan Freeman and Matt Marcoccia.

Dan is a thrower from Rhode Island, the land of the high school hammer throwers. He currently competes for UNC Charlotte in North Carolina, where he is a redshirt sophomore. While he primarily throws the javelin, he loves track and field statistics, information, and hopes to go into coaching. As he told me "Since I was in HS I always took an interest to the hammer, but never had the time to learn it, but now being in college and hoping to be a college coach my interested in it has grown. Learning the technique from the hammer coach at my job in Rhode Island at Primal ATC and Coach Joe Pascone I can't get enough information about it."

Matt started out as a football player and Ontario high school discus champion in high school before enrolling at Barton County Community College in Kansas. From 2010 to 2011 he was a runner-up and then champion in the shot put at the NJCAA championships with a personal best of 16.91 meters. A shoulder surgery has kept him out of action since then, but he plans to finish his eligibility at Mississippi State before becoming a coach.

If you are interested in joining the team at CollegeHammer.com, please contact me. We are always looking for individuals who can help summarize meets, find news articles to link to, and create other content even on an occasional basis.
