Wells Sets School Record in Hammer Throw at Larry Ellis InvitationalPublished by
PRINCETON, N.J. – Sophomore Andrew Wells established a new school record in the Hammer Throw on the opening day of the Larry Ellis Classic hosted by Princeton University. Wells’ throw of 55.94 meters topped the previous school record of 54.17m set by Patrick Harding in 2002. In his first season at Pitt, Well is now the school record holder in the hammer and the discus, both of which he set this outdoor season. Wells became the record holder in the discus during the opening meet of the season at the Charlotte 49er when he bested Steve Hein’s distance which was thrown in 1972.
