EUGENE -- If Greg Skipper could keep improving at his current rate, he would have the Oregon hammer record by the end of the season.

In two meets this spring, the redshirt freshman from Oregon City has increased his personal best by more than 12 feet, going from 204-0 to 216-5.

The UO record of 257-0, set by Ken Flax in 1986, is daunting.

But this is an event in which every inch is significant, and Skipper is blowing up.
